H.M.S. Cheerful was one of forty "C" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".

Service

Cheerful arrived at Sheerness with six other destroyers from the North Sea on 1 October, 1901.[9]

In mid-1913, she was home ported in Portland and serving in the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla.[10]

She was lost off the Shetlands[11] while serving with the Eighth Destroyer Flotilla, a patrol flotilla.
