Captain (retired) John Frederick Knox, O.B.E. (25 March, 1876 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Knox was born in London, the son of a J.P..[1]

Knox was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1898.[2]

Knox was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1906.[3]

Knox was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 14 February, 1911.[4]

Knox was granted the acting rank of Commander (retired) on 13 February, 1915. Following a brief period as temporary Harbour Master at Pembroke Royal Dockyard, Knox was assigned to Boom Defence duties in a variety of locales that are all but illegible in his Service Record. He was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 25 March, 1916 and remained so engaged until 1 May 1919 when he was superseded in his last Boom Defence appointment.[5]

Knox was granted the war service rank of Captain (retired), dated 11 November, 1918.[6]
