Captain (retired) Alfred Fulling Welldon, R.N. (27 April, 1853 – 23 August, 1931) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

When a midshipman aboard Duncan in 1873, Welldon assaulted a police officer at Sheerness and a magistrate sentenced him to fourteen days' hard labour. His captain and the C-in-C, Sheerness made a strong appeal to have the sentence reduced, but Their Lordships refused to interfere.

Welldon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 27 October, 1877.

Welldon was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1892.

Welldon was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain on 27 April, 1903. He was thanked for offering his services in 1917, but was not accepted.
