Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Hubert Gerald Daedalus Merrett (8 December, 1895 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
From June 1914 to some time in 1916, Merrett served in the battleship Prince of Wales. On 4 November 1916 he was appointed to the sweeping sloop Berberis.[1]
Merrett was cautioned following a collision between Berberis and S.S. Kingstonian in 1917.[2]
After serving in the destroyer for over a year, Merrett was appointed in command of the destroyer Sunfish on 16 December, 1918.[3] He was cautioned following a collision with S.S. Boverton.[4]
Merrett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 29 May, 1919. He was demobilised on 23 June, 1919.[5]
Merrett was placed on the Retired List owing to non-sea service on 23 June, 1922.[6]
Merrett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 29 May, 1927.[7]
World War II
Merrett was removed from the Retired List at his own request on 13 September, 1939.[8]
