Lieutenant-Commander Tom Barnholdt Vivian Thomas, (19 March, 1896 – 7 June, 1939) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Joseph V. Thomas, Esq., a vice-principal of a college.[1]

Thomas was appointed to the armoured cruiser Minotaur from 15 September, 1913 to 21 November, 1915. He was next assigned to the destroyer Amazon from 6 December, 10915 to 6 June, 1916 when he was directed to report to the destroyer Redpole.

On 24 September 1917 he was appointed to the destroyer Savage. In this ship, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1917.[2]

On 10 January, 1918 he was appointed to the destroyer Tancred. He served in her through the end of the war, and then was appointed to the "W" Class destroyer Watchman on 12 November, 1918.[3]

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1925.[4]

Thomas was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 April, 1931.[5]

World War II

Thomas was ailing and an unspecified appointment in 1939 was cancelled. He died months before the outbreak of hostilities.[6]
