Commander David Victor Fairfax Erskine (4 March, 1886 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1906.[1]
Erskine was appointed Sub-Lieutenant in Command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 041 on 10 December, 1906.[2]
Erskine was temporarily appointed as Lieutenant & Commander of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 31 on 2 February, 1912.[3]
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1914.
Erskine was appointed in command of the destroyer Vega on 21 December, 1917.[4]
Post-War
Erskine was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1919.
By late May 1920, Captain Humphrey Thomas Walwyn reported that Erskine had "a very bad name in the Flotilla" and had an excessive wine bill. Upon being superseded in Vega, he was informed that he would not be employed for a year and would not necessarily be employed even if great need for his services arose.
Erskine was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 28 December, 1921.
Adjudicated bankrupt on 2 December, 1932.
