Early in the war, Moorsom was in charge of the [[Downs Boarding Flotilla]].
Moorsom was appointed in command of the {{UK-Harrier|f=t}} from 10 February through 29 October, 1914.  In mid-November, he was reappointed to the ship, additional, to serve as Senior Naval Officer of the [[Downs Boarding Flotilla]]. After two months in this role, he was appointed to ''Harrier'' and then {{UK-Ceto|f=t}}, additional, to provide navigational expertise for the Flotilla.  This work extended until he was superseded on 11 November, 1915.<ref>Moorsom Service Record.  {{TNA|ADM 196/44/488.|}}  f. 503.</ref>

Captain (retired) Winstanley Robert Coverdale Moorsom, O.B.E. (16 July, 1878 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Moorsom was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1900.

Moorsom was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1908.

Moorsom was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1913.

Moorsom was appointed in command of the torpedo gunboat Harrier from 10 February through 29 October, 1914. In mid-November, he was reappointed to the ship, additional, to serve as Senior Naval Officer of the Downs Boarding Flotilla. After two months in this role, he was appointed to Harrier and then Template:UK-Ceto, additional, to provide navigational expertise for the Flotilla. This work extended until he was superseded on 11 November, 1915.[1]

Moorsom was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Captain on 16 July 1924.
