H.M.S. Champion (1878)
Builder: John Elder & Company, Glasgow[1]
Laid down: 1876[2]
Launched: 1 Jul, 1878[3]
Completed: 1878[4]
Sold: 1931[5]

H.M.S. Champion was one of nine Comus Class corvettes completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Commissioned at Sheerness on 7 December, 1880.[6]

The vessel participated in the Jubilee Naval Review and possibly the Annual Manoeuvres of 1897.[7]

By May 1919, Champion was among 33 obsolete ships awaiting sale.[8] Oddly, this may not have happened until 1931.
