H.M.S. Imperieuse (1883)

H.M.S. Imperieuse was was converted into a depot ship in 1905 and renamed H.M.S. Sapphire II. She reverted to H.M.S. Imperieuse in 1909 until she was sold in 1913.

Service

Imperieuse commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 March, 1888,[6] under Captain William H. May for service on the China Station.[7]

Whilst serving as flagship of the Pacific Station from 1896 to 1899 the Imperieuse is said to have visited the Cocos Islands in search of treasure.

Imperieuse was paid off on 11 April, 1913 after six years as a depot ship at Portland, to be readied to be sold out of the service.[8]
