Captain (retired) Humphrey Willie Best, C.B.E., D.S.O. (2 July, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Best was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1906.
Best was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 39 June, 1914.
Post-War
Best was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1918.
Retired at his own request on 29 October, 1922.
Best was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired)on 2 July, 1929.
World War II
Primarily engaged as a transport officer, Best was awarded a C.B.E. for assisting in the invasion of Normandy.
