Adding "Infoboxes"

H.M.S. Jupiter
Career Details
Built By: Clydebank
Laid down: 26 April, 1894
Launched: 18 November, 1895
Commissioned: 8 June, 1897
Sold: 15 January, 1920
Fate: Scrapped

For articles on individual ships (as opposed to ship classes), it has been decided to have a small box in the top-right corner which displays the ship's builder and key dates (as shown at right). If a ship is a sunk, or wrecked, substitute those reasons for the word "Sold" in the box. Change "Fate" to "Cause", and give the cause of sinking in place of "Scrapped", e.g. "Mined" or "Sunk by U-42."

The "wiki markup" in full:

{|align="right" border="2" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" style="margin: 0 0 1em 0.5em; background: #f9f9f9; border: 1px #aaa solid; border-collapse: collapse; font-size: 95%;" width="300" |align="center" colspan="2"|'''H.M.S. Adding Images

The best "wiki markup" for adding an image to a page in most situations is;

[[File:Example.jpg|thumb|right|Caption text.<br><small>Photograph: Example source.</small>]]

  • "File:Example.jpg" is the image you've uploaded.
  • "thumb" creates a box around the image, into which a caption can go.
  • "right" aligns the image to the right-hand side of the page. One can also use "left", to align the photo to the left, or "center".
  • "Caption text." The caption should be as brief as possible.
  • "Photograph: Example source." This indicates the original source of the image, where known. The <br> creates a new line.

The first photograph of a person on an article about them should go at the top of the page. Others should go in the relevant section. For example, a photograph of Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry B. Jackson as a Captain would go in the "Captain" section of the article. If, however, there wasn't a photograph of him in the article, it would go at the top until a later photograph could be found.
