Admiral Bentinck John Davies Yelverton, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (28 October, 1862 – 7 January, 1959) was an officer in the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Early Life & Career
On 15 August, 1905, Yelverton was appointed to H.M.S. Ariadne in command.[1]
On 18 March Yelverton was appointed in command of H.M.S. Terrible, and a group of ships in reserve.[2] On 1 July he was appointed to H.M.S. Royal Arthur and in command of a group of ships of the Third Fleet.[3]
Great War
Yelverton was appointed in command of the cruiser Suffolk on 19 August, 1914.[4] On 17 July, 1915, he was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Anstruther.[5] On 22 June, 1916, he was appointed a Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.).[6] From 18 September, Yelverton was appointed to H.M.S. President for Special Service.[7]
