William Blewett Fawckner

Vice-Admiral (retired) William Blewett Fawckner (22 February, 1857 – 4 June, 1944) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1882.[1]

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1895.[2]

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Captain on 24 March, 1900.[3]

Fawckner was appointed to command the armoured cruiser Cressy in April 1906.

He was appointed to command the battleship Venerable on 12 August, 1907.[4]

Fawkner was placed on the Retired List on 27 February, 1912 and promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 19 December, 1912.[5]

In January, 1914, he was appointed Nautical Assessor Class III to investigate shipping casualties, for three years.

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 23 October, 1917.[6]

Fawkner died of a cerebral hemorrhage on 4 June, 1944.[7]
