Stornoway

Stornoway, Scotland is situated in the Outer Hebrides, northwest of the mainland. In early 1915, it became the base for Rear-Admiral Tupper commanding the forces of Auxiliary Patrol Area I.

In December 1915, Stornoway area had 6 yachts and 48 trawlers and drifters for patrols, as well as 4 whalers, 10 motor boats, 15 net drifters, 7 vessels for boom defence operations.[5]

In February, 1918, the area had 5 yachts, 23 trawlers, 4 whalers, 6 motor launches, 22 net drifters, 2 other drifters, 4 motor drifters, 4 paddle or screw sweepers, and 6 vessels for boom defence operations.[6]
