Ulan was a spar torpedo steamer completed for the Imperial German Navy in 1876.

Construction

Laid down as torpedo steamer No IV but later renamed Ulan.[8]

Service

Ulan was a poor seaboat, suffering from pronounced pitching and rolling in winds above Force 5.[9] She was rebuilt as a torpedo and artillery training tender and served in that role from 1880 onward. She was stricken on 26 May, 1909 and subsequently used as a barge.[10]
