S.M.S. K was a torpedo boat built for the Imperial German Navy in 1887.

Construction

K was designed by Kaiserliche Werft Kiel, and employed a John I. Thornycroft & Company-designed ducted propeller called a "guide blade screw". She was launched on 16 July, 1887.[8]

Service

K was commissioned in June 1889 for service with an experimental division. Like her predecessor H, K's active career was short owing to the poor quality of materials used to build her. She was stricken on 30 January, 1899, sold for 16,000 GM and broken up at Hamburg.[9]
