The Order in Council of 10 May, 1872, set the salaries of members of the Board of Admiralty.
Admiralty Board; Secretaries and Controller.
WHEREAS Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council, dated the 19th day of March, 1872, to rescind the Order in Council, dated the 14th day of January, 1869 (by which Order certain changes had been effected in the constitution of the Board of Admiralty and the position of the Controller of Your Majesty's Navy), and to make provision for the future constitution of the said Board, and the re-establishment of the Office of Controller of Your Majesty's Navy; We would humbly submit to Your Majesty, that the Salaries and Allowances of the Members and Secretaries of the Board of Admiralty, and of the Controller of Your Majesty's Navy, may be as follows:—
The First Lord, 4,500l. a-year, with a house. | |
The First Naval Lord, 1,500l. a-year, with a house or an allowance in lieu. | |
The Second Naval Lord, 1,200l. a-year | Inclusive of allowance for residence. |
The Junior Naval Lord, 1,200l. a-year | |
The Civil Lord, 1,000l. a-year. | |
The Parliamentary Secretary, 2,000l. a-year. | |
The Permanent Secretary, 1,500l. a-year, with a house. | |
The Naval Secretary, 1,500l. a-year, with a house or an allowance of 200l. a-year in lieu. | |
The Controller of the Navy, 1,500l. a-year, with a house or an allowance of 200l. a-year in lieu. |
These rates of Salaries and Allowances to date from the day on which it was provided by Your Majesty's Order in Council, dated the 19th day of March, 1872, that the arrangements as to the reconstitution of the Board of Admiralty should take effect, viz., from the 19th day of April, 1872.
We would humbly represent to Your Majesty that the Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
