Journal kept by Alfred Frank Duprey on the Devitt & Moore cadet training ship PORT JACKSON (1882), 29 August 1913 to 10 July 1914. It covers a voyage to from Rotterdam to Australia and round the world to Immingham. A track chart and photographs showing the ship, crew and deck scenes are included.

Journal of Sir John Narborough, 1672. Includes an account of the Battle of Solebay which was the first naval battle of the Third Anglo-Dutch War on 28 May 1672. Sir John Narbrough was Second Captain on the PRINCE, a ship of 100 guns, which was used by the Duke of York, James Stuart, as his flagship for part of the battle. Narbrough was made a rear admiral and knighted shortly after the battle. There is also an account of the Duke of York arriving in the Royal Yacht and meetings with Sir Edward Spargge and Sir John Kempthorne. Includes 'Dimensions of His Majesties Ship Prince' on the final page.

Journal of Robert Ramsay, 1825. Journal of a voyage from Gravesend to Calcutta by Robert Ramsay, 1825. Includes details of the recruitment of the crew including lascars, the ceremony on crossing of the equator and other incidents involving the crew and paasengers. Places visited are describe din some detail including ports in Portugal, Cape Town and Madras.

The Journal of John Stimson, HMS LICHFIELD, 1758. John Stimson 'Misfortunes that befell HMS LICHFIELD on the coast of Barbary', 1758-. HMS Lichfield was wrecked on the Barbary Coast (29th?) November 1758 in bad weather when part of a fleet including HMS Torbay, HMS Prince Edward , HMS Fougueux, HMS Roman Emperor and HMS Nassau. Two hundred and twenty crew were saved and one hundred and thirty one lost but many who survived and got to shore were captured by ‘moors’. The journal contains descriptions of the crews' experience in North Africa , including descriptions of customs and culture and the punishments they endured at the hands of their captors. It also includes lists of those who survived, as well as those who died on land and at sea.

Richard Pickersgill, narrative account of the voyage of the RESOLUTION, Capt Cook, 1772-73, see appendix. Pickersgill was the Third Lieutenant on board the Resolution. The journal gives an intimate insight into life on board ship. He describes the "arduous enterprise" of crossing the Antarctic Circle, the "charming sight of New Zealand and encounters with peoples of the South Seas. His description of their customs is perhaps less sympathetic than that of James Cook.
