Hubert Stansbury

Captain (retired) Hubert Stansbury, C.B., C.B.E., R.N. (9 May, 1873 – 11 June, 1949) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of W. P. Stansbury, Esq..

Stansbury was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in August, 1893.

In 1904, he was thanked for his design for an automatic sight for heavy naval guns, which were considered for adoption.

Stansbury was promoted to the rank of Commander in December, 1905.

Stansbury was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 24 August, 1910 with the rank of Captain.

Stansbury served as a Transport Officer in a variety of capacities in the Great War, including "route giving" duties at Norfolk, Virginia in 1918. He reverted to the Retired List on 15 November, 1919.
