H.M.S. Wasp was one of four gunboats of the Bramble class. Like the recent predecessor gunboat of the same name, she was wrecked and lost soon after entering service.
Service
On 10 September 1887, Wasp departed Singapore for Shanghai and Hong Kong and was never seen again. It is possible that a typhoon reported on the 19th was the cause of her loss. None of her 75 crew or 5 additional souls survived.[3]
Captains
Dates of appointment are provided when known.
- Lieutenant & Commander Bryan J. H. Adamson, – c. 19 September, 1887[4] (killed when vessel lost under his command)
