H.M.S. Seagull was one of thirteen Sharpshooter class torpedo gunboats.

Service

On 23 October 1890, Mr. Durston, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Navy visited Portsmouth to inspect Seagull's machinery to try to ascertain why she was "constantly smashing the blades of her screw propellers." She was at that time slated to replace Rattlesnake as tender to H.M.S. Vernon.[6]

In October, 1896 while she was still a tender to Vernon, her crew was turned over to the Jaseur at Portsmouth so that she could be fitted with water tube boilers.[7]

In 1908, she and the four other survivors were taken in hand for conversion to minesweepers.[8]

Seagull was lost in a collision with S.S. Corribb in the Firth of Clyde on 30 September, 1918.
