H.M.S. Rambler was one of three Algerine Class gunvessels completed for the Royal Navy.

Commissioned at Chatham on 11 November, 1884.[4]

- Captain Morris H. Smyth, 8 March, 1901[9] – 1 February, 1904
- Commander Charles E. Monro, 1 December, 1903[10] – 31 July, 1906
Smyth and Monro seem to overlap, but Monro may have made captain on 1 February, 1904.
