Godfrey Edwin Corbett

Captain (retired) Godfrey Edwin Corbett, C.B.E., R.N. (1 July, 1871 – 5 June, 1929) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in November, 1892.[1]

In mid 1905, Corbett was thanked for inventing a "submarine kite", though it was not accepted for use.[2]

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1906.[3]

Corbett was appointed in command of an illegible ship, and as Flag Commander, on 7 January, 1911. This ceased on 11 April, 1911.[4]

In February 1913, Corbett was blamed for damage that Melpomene incurred while being undocked.[5]

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Acting Captain on 3 July, 1915.[6]

Post-War

Corbett was promoted to the rank of Captain on 24 August, 1919.[7]
