Captain Godfrey Alexander French, C.B.E. (1 July, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Dr. A. French of the Medical Prison Service.
French was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1920.[1]
French was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1928.[2]
French was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1933.[3]
World War II
French was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1940.[4]
French was placed on the Retired List on 8 July, 1949.[5]
French was recalled to service and lent to the Indian Navy on 17 December, 1951. This service commenced with a flurry of training courses at seemingly every training facility in the Royal Navy. He reverted to the Retired List on 8 June, 1954.[6]
