George Thomas Wolfe Perkins
Lieutenant-Commander George Thomas Wolfe Perkins, (27 April, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Surbiton.
After serving in T.B. 3 during the Annual Manoeuvres of 1908, in August 1908 Perkins was sent to Mercury for instruction in submarines. He was assigned to C 27 on 7 August, 1909 and was re-appointed in her following his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1910. On 15 December, he was appointed to Thames for submarines.[1]
On 5 February 1912, Perkins was appointed in command of the small coastal submarine A 5. On 19 August, he was placed on half pay.[2]
Suffering from debt, he resigned his commission on 28 February, 1913. On 3 November, 1914 he was placed on the Emergency List and appointed to a twelve day Modified Sweep Course. He took these new skills to Rosyth to act as a leader for Armed Patrol Trawler Division "Lotus". He would later command the trawler Warrior as a unit leader, and then the yacht Maid of Honour.[3]
Perkins was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1918.[4]
