Life & Career
Hunt was promoted to the rank of Commander from the list of Supplementary Lieutenants on 1 January, 1902.[1][2]

The Great War
On 3 August, 1914, Hunt was called up to assist in fitting out Armed Merchant Cruisers at Tilbury. After just two weeks of this, he was appointed Senior Naval Officer at the Port of London, though his work on the A.M.Cs. may have actually extended into September. Hunt remained at Port of London until 1 November when he was appointed as assistant to the Captain of Devonport Dockyard and as assistant King's Harbour Master of the Hamoage.[7]
In November, 1916, he salvaged the wrecked S.S. Bromfield. On 9 December, 1916, he was further thanked for his work in salvaging another ship.[8]
Hunt was still in his Devonport appointment when he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on 22 August, 1917, the verdict being he did so while temporarily insane.[9]
