Geoffrey David Taylor

Captain (retired) Geoffrey David Taylor, O.B.E., (16 December, 1889 – 14 April, 1939) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Kensington, the son of an H. Taylor, Esq., M.B., M.[illeg]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1909.

He was awarded the Beaufort and Wharton Testimonial for 1910.

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1917.

Following just over two years in command of Kite while conducting experimental work at H.M.S. Excellent, he commanded the trawler Andrew Jewer, another tender to Excellent from 7 July 1920 to 13 August, 1920.

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1921.

Taylor was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 16 December, 1935.
