Lieutenant-Commander Edward Philip Tomkinson, D.S.O.* ( – 6 May, 1942) served in the Royal Navy. We title his page with a "(b)" to differentiate him from a man of the same age born in 1850.
I have been unable to find a Service Record for him at The National Archives.
Life & Career
Tomkinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1933.
Tomkinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 October, 1941.
He died when his Template:UK-Urge was lost without a trace on a transit from Malta to Alexandria. In 2019, the submarine was found two miles off Malta, apparently a victim of mine damage forward in an area known to have been sown.
