Colin John Lawrence Bittleston
Captain (retired) Colin John Lawrence Bittleston, C.B.E., D.S.C., (23 May, 1893 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Son of Colonel G. H. Bittleston, Royal Artillery.
Bittleston passed out of Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in April, 1910 ranked 34th of 77 cadets in marks on the Part I examination.[1] He gained one months' time on passing out of the Training Establishment.
Bittleston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1916.[2]
Bittleston was promoted to Midshipman on 15 January, 1911.[3]
Bittleston was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the patrol boat P48 on 30 April, 1918.[4]
Post-War
Bittleston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1924.[5]
Bittleston was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928.[6]
World War II
Bittleston was granted the acting rank of Captain on 15 November, 1939.[7]
Bittleston was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 23 May, 1943.[8]
Bittleston reverted to the Retired List on 29 March 1946.[9]
