Arthur Fosberry Holmes

Captain (retired) Arthur Fosberry Holmes, R.N. (4 February, 1862 – 5 March, 1934) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Holmes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April 1886.[1]

He commanded the composite paddle vessel Alecto from 1 March 1897 to 1 September 1898.[2]

Holmes was promoted to the rank of Commander in December, 1898.[3]

Holmes was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain (retired) on 20 October 1908. During the war, he would serve as the examination officer at Stornoway.[4]
