Arnold Maitland-Dougall
Captain Arnold Maitland-Dougall, (29 June, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Storrington, West Sussex, the son of retired Commander W. Maitland-Dougall, R.N..[1]
Maitland-Dougall was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1908.[2]
Maitland-Dougall was appointed to Hercules for torpedo officer on 15 December, 1913 and served in her through the entire war, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1916 and fighting at the Battle of Jutland. He was unable to fire any torpedoes, as no opportunity presented itself.[3]
Maitland-Dougall was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1919.[4]
Maitland-Dougall was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1927. He commanded the repair ship Resource from 10 September, 1929 to April, 1931. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 6 January, 1933.[5]
