Lieutenant William Edmund Oliver (30 August, 1868 – 16 February, 1904) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Oliver was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1891.

He was court-martialled for grounding Theseus on 4 August, 1899 and deprived of one year's seniority and dismissed the ship. He spent some time on port service before being appointed to Hawke for navigating duties on 18 November, 1899.

His only ever sea command, of the torpedo gunboat Hebe, appointed 31 October 1903 proved brief, as he contracted whooping cough and died in mid-February, 1904.
