Lieutenant (retired) William Davidson (30 December, 1879 – 28 July, 1926) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Davidson was promoted to Gunner on 4 January, 1909. In 1912/13 he received a negative evaluation from Captain Fisher indicating he was "not entirely trustworthy or zealous" despite being smart and demonstrating ability.[1]

From the outbreak of war to 31 December, 1914, Davidson served in the destroyer Success. He then served in T.B. 83 from 12 January, 1915 until being appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 97 on 28 April, 1917.[2][3]

Davidson was promoted to Chief Gunner on 11 June, 1919. He grounded T.B. 97 on 25 July, 1919 at Tangiers, drawing a reprimand after a Court of Enquiry. This reprimand may have later been withdrawn for illegible reasons.[4]

Davidson was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Lieutenant on 21 August, 1922.[5]
