Captain Wilfrid Ward Hunt, D.S.O., R.N., Retired (26 July, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hunt was born in London. He underwent examinations for in July, 1897 and gained entrance to Britannia's term of August, 1897, his 1390 marks placing him thirteenth among the sixty-three candidates accepted as naval cadets.[1]

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1904.[2]

Hunt was appointed in command of the second-class torpedo boat T.B. 42 on 1 August, 1906.[3][4] He would leave her for the battleship London on 16 May, 1907. On 2 June, 1908, he went over to the second class protected cruiser Fox.[5]

Hunt was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 92 on 31 August, 1912.[6]

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1912. Rear-Admiral Brock recommended that Hunt be given command of a flotilla.[7]

Great War

World War II

Hunt was called back to naval service for the Second World War, being appointed in command of the land establishment H.M.S. Volcano on 31 January, 1941.. He reverted to the Retired List on 12 December, 1945.[12]
