Walter Scott

Commander Walter Scott, (23 March, 1881 – 1 November, 1914) served in the Royal Navy and died at the Battle of Coronel.

Another man of the same name served in the Royal Navy in World War II.

Life & Career

Scott was the son of Walter Scott, F.R.C.E., J.P., of Bombay.

Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1902.

Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1913.

Scott was appointed to the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Good Hope as navigator on 19 August, 1914 and died when she sank with all hands at the Battle of Coronel on 1 November.
