Vice-Admiral (retired) Walter John Challoner Lake (20 August, 1878 – 6 September, 1952) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Frank Finnis was his father-in-law.

Life & Career
Lake was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1899.
Lake was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1912.[1]
On 5 December, 1913, Lake was appointed as Flag Commander to Vice-Admiral Commanding Second and Third Fleets Burney in H.M.S. Lord Nelson, and for War Staff Duties.[2]
Lake was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1917.
Post-War
On 19 January, 1919, Lake was appointed in command of the light cruiser Concord.[3]
He was appointed in command of the battlecruiser Tiger in July, 1927.
Lake was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 17 May, 1929 and was placed on the Retired List the following day.
Lake was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 11 February, 1934.
