Captain (retired) Walter Colin Lucas, (11 March, 1883 – 19 October, 1947) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Leamington.

Lucas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1904.[1]

Stricken with malaria, he was invalided from command of the river gunboat Robin in December, 1910.[2]

Lucas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1912.[3]

Lucas would be appointed to Highflyer in September 1913 and then as her first and gunnery officer on 14 September, 1913. After his promotion to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1916, he was superseded in Highflyer on 13 April, 1917. In June, he was sent to the Intelligence Division, Trade section and in mid August he was made a staff officer there, second grade.[4]

Lucas was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 6 June 1922.

World War II

Lucas was promoted to the rank of Captain on 8 May, 1946.[5]
