Vernon Archibald Tisdall (2 September, 1850 – ) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.

Life & Career

Tisdall entered the navy on 1 October, 1864 and promoted to Lieutenant on 3 September, 1872.[1]

He was made Acting Commander of Template:UK-2Swift on 9 August, 1883 until 27 October 1883 by order of the Commander-in-Chief.[2]

On 10 December, 1883, he was made acting Commander of Midge.[3]

On 19 February, 1884, he was made acting Commander of Kestrel, taking over command on 7 March. He paid her off on 30 July, 1884 and took 44 days of leave on full pay.[4]

Tisdall was promoted to the rank of Commander on 4 February, 1886.[5]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1893.

In January 1899, he assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Theseus. He remained with the ship until 1902.
