Service

Edwards was commissioned on 24 April, 1919 at Boston Navy Yard with Commander Pierre L. Wilson in command.

Edwards was one of the fifty U.S. destroyers transferred to the Royal Navy in 1940, becoming H.M.S. Buxton.
