Service

Craven was commissioned on 19 October, 1918 with Lieutenant Commander Millington B. McComb in command. Too late to play an active part in the war, she participated in training exercises on the eastern seaboard and in the Carribbean and then gun tests and weather duties near Newfoundland. By late 1919, she was placed in reserve.

In World War II, she would be part of the lend-lease of destroyers to the Royal Navy, joining their service as H.M.S. Lewes.
