The Technical History Section of the Admiralty was established on 2 December, 1918, "with the object of preserving a secret record of technical problems dealt with by Admiralty Departments during the War".[1] It's first and only head was Acting Commander Rollo Appleyard, R.N.V.R., who was demobilised in March, 1920.[2]
