The Sixth Cruiser Squadron was originally the Third Cruiser Squadron, under Rear-Admiral Sir Henry B. Jackson. He gave up command on 10 October, 1910.[1] Officially, Rear-Admiral Sir Douglas A. Gamble commanded the Sixth Cruiser Squadron from 26 September, 1910, until 3 June, 1912.[2] From 2 July, 1913 to 27 July, Rear-Admiral David Beatty commmanded the squadron for the annual manœuvres, flying his flag in the Aboukir.[3][4]
