Captain (retired) Ronald Ernest Cotton Dunbar, (22 April, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Fleet Paymaster Charles A. R. Dunbar.
Dunbar was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1915.[1]
Dunbar was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1923.[2]
Dunbar was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 9 May, 1931 and was promoted to the rank of Commander on 22 April, 1934.
World War II
Mentioned in despatches three times, including while serving in command of the monitor Roberts as she bombarded Le Havre and Walcheren.
Granted the War Service Rank of Captain when he reverted to the Retired List on 13 September, 1945. He was recalled to service in the 1950s, but was again reverted to the Retired List on 29 August, 1955.[3]
