Commander (retired) Robert Hudleston Keate, R.N. (29 June, 1870 – 4 December, 1924) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Keate was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1892.

Retired at his own request on 5 July, 1910 with the rank of Commander.

At the outset of the war, he was sent to Harrier to work with the Downs Boarding Flotilla as an acting interpreter in German, but he was sent ashore before mid-August, suffering from "general debility." A year later, with no intervening appointments, he was declared unfit for further active service.
