Rear-Admiral (retired) Robert Copland Sparkes, R.N. (20 November, 1851 – 10 July, 1924) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Sparkes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 January, 1877.

Sparkes was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1891.

Sparkes was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1898.

Sparkes was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Forte in August, 1900.

Sparkes married Alice M. Jackson on 29 April, 1902 at Cape Station and changed his name to Robert Copland-Sparkes.

Copland-Sparkes was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 8 December, 1903 and promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 16 December, 1907.
