Richard Stockton Field

Commander (retired) Richard Stockton Field (9 June, 1890 – ) served in the United States Navy.

Life & Career

Field was born in Mississippi, and was appointed to naval service there on 3 July, 1907.[1]

Promoted to the rank of Ensign on 7 March, 1912, by early 1914, Field was serving in the destroyer U.S.S. Paulding.[2]

Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade) on 7 March 1915 and by early 1916 he was in the battleship U.S.S. Connecticut.[3]

On 15 August, 1918 he was granted the temporary rank of Lt. Cdr.. By early 1919 he was serving in protected cruiser U.S.S. Olympia.[4]

Promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Commander came on 1 January, 1922.[5]

Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 4 June, 1931. In early 1936, he was at the Naval War College, Newport.[6]

Field was retired on 1 September 1937 after fifteen years, nine months of sea service.[7]
