Captain (retired) Richard Lindsay Nicholson, D.S.O., R.N. (29 October, 1882 – 1 November, 1940) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1904.

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1912. He became a specialist in wireless telegraphy, and provided such expertise to Jellicoe's Staff during the Annual Manoeuvres of 1913.

With the outbreak of war, he served first in Centurion and then {UK-IronDuke}}.

Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.

Nicholson was placed on the Retired List at his own request dated 30 July, 1920. He was late promoted to the rank of Captain on 29 October, 1927.
