Captain Reuben Burton Coffey (13 August, 1883 – 20 February, 1959) served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Coffey was born on 13 August 1883 in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Missouri.
Reuben Burton Coffey and Elinor Gertrude Scollay were married in 1914 in Pennsylvania.[1]
On 19 February 1919, Coffey was assigned to command the destroyer U.S.S. Bush. In April, 1919 he was given command of the Template:US=McLanahan. In December 1919 he was given command of the destroyer Toucey.[2]
On 23 March 1934 Captain Coffey was reassigned from the U.S. Naval War College at Newport, R.I. to assume command of the battleship U.S.S. Arkansas.[3]
Reuben died in Newport, Aquidneck Island, Newport Co., RI on 20 Feb 1959 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia on 25 February, 1959.[4]
