Captain (retired) Reginald Francis Morice, C.B.E. (13 June, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of a retired Captain of the Royal Engineers.

In December 1912, Captain Everett noted that Morice was "sleepy, but does his best." A year later, Captain Lawson wrote, "sleepy, but shows signs of waking up." These are not typical evaluations of an officer.[1]

Morice was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1916, adjusted from an initial date of 15 May.

He was appointed in temporary command of the German submarine U 152 from 28 December 1918 until 24 January, 1919.[2]

Morice commanded a submarine which appears to be L 4, but it perhaps another submarine numbered 4, from 24 January, 1919 to 15 July, 1919.

In 1921, Morice was blamed for an accident at "Z" torpedo tube in Wild Swan. He was warned to be more careful in future.

Morice was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1924.

Morice was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.

World War II

Morice was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 13 June, 1944.
