Captain (retired) Randal Borough McCowen, D.S.O. (18 October, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in St. Johns, Newfoundland the son of a doctor, McCowen entered the navy as a Colonial Candidate.
McCowen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1905.
McCowen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1913.
McCowen was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1917.
He commanded the requisitioned yacht Alacrity from her commissioning in 1919 until she re-commissioned, perhaps in mid 1921.
McCowen was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 12 August, 1930.
